American Apparel to Operate out of 17,000 S.F. on Sixth Avenue
New York, NY, December 7, 2011 — Rose Associates announced today that American Apparel has signed a short-term agreement for 17,000 square feet of retail space at Chelsea Landmark, the luxury rental property located on Sixth Avenue between 25th and 26th streets in Manhattan.
The American Apparel agreement closely follows a similar one with Knoll, Inc., and it is the third short-term lease that Rose has arranged for Chelsea Landmark this fall. American Apparel intends to operate a pop-up store in the retail space, which it will occupy from December 13th to December 28th. The space was leased by Spirit Halloween in September and October, and it played host to Knoll’s annual warehouse sale in November.
Bruce Spiegel and Bill Bergman of Rose represented the property owner in the transaction. Chris DeCrostas of Thor High Street Advisors represented American Apparel.
“Retailers are expressing continued interest in this showcase space, which has terrific exposure along Sixth Avenue in Chelsea,” said Spiegel, senior managing director at Rose. “I am confident that American Apparel will be able to take advantage of the location which offers considerable foot traffic from a desirable demographic.”
Rose is currently seeking a long-term retail tenant for Chelsea Landmark, which offers 17,000 square feet of street-level space and roughly 7,300 square feet of lower-level space. The entire 23,000 square feet had been formerly occupied by Gracious Home, and offers possible divisions as well as venting for restaurant use.
